Step into the world of ancient skill and precision with the Archery Adventure in the scenic surrounds of Stellenbosch. This exciting, interactive outdoor experience is perfect for first-time archers, families, friends, and team-building groups looking for something unique, challenging, and fun.
Your adventure begins with a relaxed introduction to traditional archery, where our friendly instructors will guide you through the basics of shooting a traditional recurve bow. You’ll learn proper stance, aim, draw technique, and shooting safety in a beautiful natural setting that enhances the immersive experience. No prior experience is needed – just a sense of adventure and a steady eye.
Once everyone is feeling confident with their bow, the real fun begins as you put your new skills to the test in two exciting archery games designed to challenge your accuracy and add a little friendly competition. These games could include “Balloon Pop,” where each archer tries to burst as many colourful balloons as possible, or the ever-popular “Target Race,” where archers must hit a sequence of targets in the shortest time. These games are designed to build excitement, boost confidence, and create lots of laughs along the way.
Next, the adventure shifts into a more advanced and visually striking experience – 3D archery shooting. Here, guests move through a short course featuring realistic, foam animal targets placed at different angles and distances. It’s as close to traditional hunting-style archery as you can get, and adds an extra layer of skill and fun. You’ll feel like a true archer tracking prey through the wild!
To end off the session, we introduce you to the traditional challenge of clout archery – a medieval-style long-distance game where you shoot high into the air, aiming to land your arrow as close as possible to a flag or target placed flat on the ground far away. It’s a thrilling way to test your technique and accuracy over distance, and an impressive finish to an action-packed session.

What is an E-bike
E-Bikes make this anybody’s adventure as you can go further and explore more! E-Bikes are bicycles integrated with a motor and a battery that assists the cyclist and allows them to cycle further with less effort.
The Route
The route is non technical with the half of the route a dedicated bicycle lane and half of the route jeep tracks. The hike to the waterfall is also non technical.
Tour Description
We meet at Lanzerac Wine Estate where your Adventure starts. At the Trail Centre your guide will introduce you to your E-bike and issue you with your safety equipment.
You will cycle on a dedicated bicycle lane toward Jonkershoek Reserve and the view of the mountains becomes more spectacular as you do deeper into the valley. Once through the Jonkershoek gate we follow the Eerste River and you will enjoy a 360 degree view of majestic mountains.
Reaching the deepest part of the valley that allows bicycles we will start a 3.5 km hike to the first waterfall which is a great reward to reach.

A fantastic morning exploring the beauty of Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. Louise was an expert guide, and set a perfect pace for the biking and hiking. As someone who doesn't do much physical activity, I was nervous for the day but it ended up being perfect. I would recommend stretching before you begin though! It was a fun experience, the 2 guides were excellent, funny and patient. I have done the Franschoek route and preferred it to this one as I found this to be quite steep and daunting if you were doing it for the first time (as per my family). Also didn't like doing it once then going through it again prefer to go from point A to point B ... But it was fun and would definitely recommend it.
